Heritage Revealed

"Heritage Revealed" project was designed to fund and direct efforts to research and uncover cultural assets displaced in the aftermath of World War II. Countless valuable objects: art, books, and manuscripts were brought to the Former Soviet Union as trophy art and their location was kept secret for decades. When the Russian Federation signed “Guiding Principles of the Washington Conference on the Holocaust Period Property in Resolving the Issues Related to Objects of Art” in 1998 it promised to cooperate with international recovery efforts and publish information about cultural property stolen from the Holocaust victims.

The project explored research materials available in Russia relating to trophy art and published catalogs documenting cultural valuables taken from Jewish collectors and transferred to the USSR after World War II.
